Pastor Marvin O. King
Pastor Marvin O. King Jr. was born in Houston, Texas. He attended Drake University and earned
a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science while being a member of the Drake Men’s
basketball team. Pastor King continued his academic pursuits and earned a Master of Business
Administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University and Master of Divinity degree from
Asbury Theological Seminary.
Pastor Marvin O. King Jr. was born in Houston, Texas and is the oldest of three
children. He is the oldest son of Marvin O. King Sr. and Delores King (deceased). He is married
to the former Rosalynn Ivy and have two children: Marvin King III (Tre) and Mason King.
Pastor King enjoys spending time with family, sports, reading, being outdoors, fishing, listening
to music and watching movies.
Pastor King announced his call to the preaching ministry on December 2, 2001 and
preached his initial sermon on January 26, 2002 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. C. B.
Akins at First Baptist Church Bracktown. On November 21, 2003, Pastor King was ordained in
the gospel ministry.
After briefly relocating to Raleigh, North Carolina, Pastor King became an associate
minister and chief armor bearer to Pastor Mark Anthony Middleton of the Abundant
Hope Christian Church, Durham, North Carolina. Pastor King served the congregation of
Abundant Hope for two years before making a complete transition into full time ministry.
In 2007, Pastor King accepted a position as the Director of Ministries at Consolidated
Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Richard Gaines. Pastor King served in
several ministerial capacities while at Consolidated Church such as the Director of Family Life
and Director of the Andrew Center. He also served in roles involving administration / strategic planning, leadership development, and family ministries (i.e. children / youth, men, women, outreach / evangelism etc.)
Pastor King was called as pastor of First Baptist Church Winchester, KY in January
2010. Pastor King has a passion for Kingdom ministry as well as developing and preparing
leaders in the Kingdom of God. He has been involved in developing leaders for 21st century
leadership both inside and outside of the local church. He is the CEO of King & Co. Consulting,
LLC, a leadership, diversity & inclusion training firm as well as the Executive Director of the
Genesis Foundation of Kentucky. Pastor King is committed to organizations that promote the
growth and welfare of individuals in the community. He currently serves on the Boards of Park
Community Credit Union, the Greater Clark Foundation and the Bluegrass Community
Technical College Regional Advisory Council.
Pastor King has a passion for preaching/teaching the Word of God, community development and
transformation, and helping people reach their God given potential.
